Once a mere EMF meter, the little KII Meter has found a brand new identity, hiding in the tool boxes of Ghost Hunters and Paranormal Researchers from one corner of the world to the other.

Why?

Ask a great many paranormal investigators and they'll tell you that the KII Meter exhibits properties and boasts features that make it the easiest, handiest and most reliable EMF meter for paranormal use.  The string of LEDs across the top of the meter measure the relative strength of whatever EMF (electromagnetic field) happens to exist in the locality of the instrument, and it demonstrates the relative strength of said field in a most visual way.  The colored LEDs flicker from light green (for very weak fields) to bright red, and when the field is stable the lights are also stable.

Researchers are finding this meter to be the perfect size, wonderfully durable (with no moving parts inside) and practically foolproof.  It does its magic on a single 9V battery (the ones we elders used to know as 'transistor' batteries), which lasts a VERY long time because LEDs draw precious little power.

The new K2 Meter is here at last . . . with a specially modified on-off switch built right into the unit.  The meter looks exactly the same as the original model, but the switch is now a PUSH ON, PUSH OFF switch instead of a momentary contact switch.  This means you can now push the button once and the meter stays on until you push the same button again.  You can put the meter down and monitor it from a distance, and you can carry it around while you investigate without having to keep your thumb pressing down on the switch.  No more coins wedged into the crack at the top of the switch that can cause fluctuations or even damage to the switch.

TECHNICAL:

EMF fields are generated by virtually all electric and electronic devices, including wiring.   As with all other EMF meters, the KII, up until recently, was primarily used to monitor and measure these fields.  EMF stands for 'electromagnetic field'.  While EMF fields are everywhere in the modern world, they can be hazardous to health if too strong and too constant, if in the vicinity of people and animals.

The KII meter uses a string of colorful LED lights to indicate the presence of EMF fields.  This is a very visual method and it lends itself extremely well to paranormal investigating.  If the encountered field is weak, the light green LED may flicker.  A slightly stronger field will cause it to remain lit.  As the field grows in strength, or the meter is moved to a point where the field is stronger, the LED lights glow consecutively across the row, until the bright red LED is full on.  This indicates a powerful field, of at least 20mG.

Current theory among paranormal investigators is that anomolous EMF readings -- those for which no obvious natural source can be detected -- may point to the presence of paranormal activity.  This might be because EMF fields are good representations of energy in the environment, and it is thought that paranormal occurrences and anomalous EMF fields are linked.   Many researchers are of the opinion that disembodied spirits 'borrow' or disrupt natural EMF fields as they attempt to manifest, making use of whatever energy they can find.  If this is so, the KII meter and its highly visual display lends itself very well to this research.

NOT SO TECHNICAL:

Unless you live in a cave without cable or satelite, you have almost certainly seen the KII Meter on TV, prominently displayed by paranormal investigators such as the popular TAPS crew of Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International.  The fact that the KII has found such wide acceptance is clear evidence of its suitability for the task.  It is light weight, very durable, and it runs for a very long time on a single 9V battery, which is quickly and easily replaced.  It has no moving parts and it is rugged.  It's press-to-operate oversized surface switch can easily be converted to a constant switch by wedging a thin dime or a quarter into the space at the top of the plastic switch.  This is the easy way to use the meter as a monitoring device, perhaps in view of a running camcorder.  There is no question that it has become an accepted tool in the business, used now by groups from every corner of the globe.

The best part is . . . the KII is an inexpensive way to get started if you are just getting interested in paranormal investigations.  And if you are already involved, you are well acquainted with the acceptance the KII has earned in such a short time, and you probably want several for your group.
